Don’t get in salty situations-move away from the Salt Shaker! Experience this fun and educational class concerning how and why to decrease sodium in your diet. Americans tend to consume more sodium than what is recommended and should limit the amount of sodium eaten daily. In this class, Jymann Davis M.S., CFCS, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Agent-Family & Community Health Agent for Comal County will cover the topic of sodium from the history, role of sodium in foods and public health, current sodium consumption trends, how to identify sodium in foods, food trends related to sodium and some national initiatives on reducing sodium. You’ll get updates on the nutrition facts label and the 2020-2025 New Dietary Guidelines for Americans. Participants will also take home a sample of the recipe to use as an alternative to salt on a variety of foods from steak, chicken, fish, salads and even popcorn!
